COVID-19 Update
Who knew this crazy pandemic would have us all changing how we live and work, but we’re
getting through this together! We have always gone above and beyond the universal
precautions required by the American Dental Association, CDC and Texas State Board of Dental
Examiners. However, because of Covid-19 we have increased our procedures for our patients
and family’s safety. So, in an abundance of caution, the following items have been added to
our already rigorous routine:
All patients and parents are prescreened for Covid-19 when scheduling their appointments and
again when confirming the appointment. Patients are instructed to remain in their car upon
arrival at our office and call to let us know they are here. A staff member will come out to
them and do a final screening, along with a temperature check for patient and parent before
they are escorted into treatment. We ask that only the patient and one parent come into the
office to reduce risks of spreading the virus.
All patients and parents are required to wear masks. We’ve seen lots of cool masks! Keep it
up!
Our lobby is temporarily closed. There are no magazines, drinks, video games or children’s
toys to avoid any contamination. But one day we’ll get to play those cool video games again!
Hand sanitizer is available at several stations throughout the office for patients and
parents. Rub, rub, rub those hands together!
We have installed air purification systems in all three HVAC units to completely sanitize
the air for the entire office. 99.9% of viruses and bacteria are killed in the air. Ahhhh,
big sigh!

After a patient’s treatment is completed, the area is fogged with hypochlorous acid to
sanitize every surface, top to bottom.

There are medical grade air filters stationed throughout the office.
As we have always done, all dental instruments used are either disposable or sterilized to
the exact specifications required. Squeaky clean!
The staff is screened daily and has their temperature taken and recorded twice daily.
Our staff wears face masks all day. Additionally, the clinical staff wears gloves, face
shields and gowns over their uniform for treatment. They also use PAPRs (Powered Air
Purifying Respirators) when treating patients. We look like Buzz Lightyear, and the patients
think it’s funny!
Plexiglass barriers have been installed in the business area to prevent transmission from
face to face contact. Additionally, many payments, paperwork and treatment plans are
accomplished electronically.
All counter tops, doorknobs and the restroom are wiped and sanitized after contact.
We miss the old way of doing things, but we’re proud we can help stop the spread of the
virus and still provide a happy, fun and safe place for kids to get their teeth taken care
of. We love our patients and look forward to seeing you soon!
